Welcome to Jaz's Journal: My Journey, My Mission, and What to Expect

Updated: Aug 14

Hello and welcome to Jaz's Journal: Brave Thoughts, Brave Actions! I'm Jaz, a self-published author, entrepreneur, domestic violence survivor, advocate and mom. I’m thrilled to have you here as I embark on this new blogging journey, sharing my experiences, insights, and the mission that drives me every day.

My Journey

My journey is a tapestry woven with threads of resilience, passion, and a deep commitment to making a difference. It all began with my love for writing. Ever since I was young, I found solace and expression through words. Writing was my way to process my thoughts and emotions. I was never the best at expressing them verbally, but writing them out saved me. Little did I know that this passion would one day lead me to write a novel that would resonate with so many.

I am the author of Crystal’s Method, a fiction novel based on a true story, published in 2022. The book delves into the harrowing experiences of a young girl facing sexual assault and domestic abuse. Writing this book was a cathartic experience for me. It allowed me to give a voice to those who feel silenced, to raise awareness about domestic violence, and to contribute to the ongoing conversation about prevention and support.

Becoming a Domestic Violence Advocate

My advocacy work stems from personal experience. As a survivor of domestic violence, I understand the pain, fear, and isolation that victims often feel. This firsthand experience fuels my passion to support others going through similar situations. I want to be a beacon of hope, offering resources, education, and a sense of community to those in need.

I founded The Brave Method with this mission in mind. The Brave Method is dedicated to domestic abuse prevention education, promoting healthy relationships, and empowering individuals to lead fulfilling lives free from violence. Through community outreach, we strive to make a tangible impact in the lives of survivors and their families.

The Brave Method: Empowering Authors and Advocates

The Brave Method is more than just an organization dedicated to domestic abuse prevention education and advocacy. It's a multifaceted platform designed to empower individuals to share their stories, raise awareness, and make a difference. One of the core missions of The Brave Method is to support aspiring authors, helping them turn their ideas into published works. It also doesn't matter what your unique story is, it could help someone else.

Writing a book is a deeply personal and often challenging journey. As a self-published author, I understand the hurdles that come with bringing a story to life. That's why The Brave Method offers resources and services to support aspiring authors in their writing and self-publishing endeavors. Here are some of the ways we help:

1. Writing Workshops and Classes:

  • These sessions provide practical tips, techniques, and exercises to enhance your writing skills and overcome common obstacles like writer's block.

  • Aspiring authors can benefit from personalized mentorship sessions where they receive tailored advice and feedback on their work.

  • Covering various aspects of the writing process, from brainstorming ideas and developing characters to structuring your narrative and refining your voice.

Why This Matters

At The Brave Method, we believe that everyone has a story worth telling. By providing these resources and support, we aim to empower individuals to use their voices to create change, raise awareness, and inspire others. Whether you’re writing a novel, a memoir, or a non-fiction book, your story can have a profound impact on readers and contribute to important conversations.

As a survivor of domestic violence, I know the power of storytelling in healing and advocacy. My book, Crystal’s Method, is not just a work of fiction; it’s a tool for raising awareness and offering hope. Through The Brave Method, I want to help other authors achieve the same—using their stories to make a difference.

Health and Nutrition: A Personal Passion

Another significant aspect of my life is health and nutrition. Since 2017, I’ve embraced a pescatarian lifestyle, which has brought numerous benefits to my overall well-being. Even though I am technically pescatarian, my day-to-day diet mimics more of a vegetarian diet. Since having a baby last year, I’ve made the decision to raise my now, one year old daughter as a vegan. This choice reflects my commitment to providing her with a healthy and sustainable diet from an early age.

In this blog, I’ll be sharing my experiences and tips on maintaining a balanced diet for both pescatarians and vegans. From meal planning and grocery shopping to delicious recipes and nutritional advice, I aim to provide practical insights that can help other families navigate their dietary choices.
